Inner Education

Discovery of Self is a unique interdisciplinary and cross-cultural curriculum providing a conceptual framework for profoundly changing one's perception of self and the world, and strategies designed to access undeveloped internal resources for focusing, innovation, creativity and self-regulationlself-relaxation. Together the framework and strategies move participants to experience how one's subjective states, or mind, or invironment significantly affect one's external circumstances or environment.
The Discovery of Self project/curriculum provides:
Concepts that challenge one's basic assumptions about how the world works and inspire optimism about our capacities to attract/create opportunities, resources and positive relationships
Strategies which foster self-awareness, self/control, concentration, creativity and confidence
A framework addressing the whole child, tying together the diverse aspects of self-exploration with a structure and support for goal setting
Guest speakers and access to a library of video tapes reinforcing the concepts and principles of the curriculum
Iam writing in response to the presentation given by Jane Barrash. I found the material presented to be very informative, and also to be entertaining. This is not to say that I did not learn anything from the material presented, but that it was presented in such a way that my attention was captured throughout. I found the talk interesting for a number of reasons. First, I have had a long standing fascination with quantum mechanics, and also with the ways that its "quirkiness" can play with many of the paradigms that we tend to hold dear. Second, I found much of what Jane had to say dovetailed and brought together a lot of information that I had learned from various sources.
Mark English, St. Olaf College

This curriculum has given me a chance to take a closer look at myself and from what I have found, determine if I am a help or a harm to my surroundings. Rebekah, Skills for Tomorrow High School.
Discovery of Self has given the students in a striclty traditional educational program, a form for something new. this has created a challenge, as well as an opportunity for them. the DOS curriculum has challenged their existing beliefs, not only about school and what is taught, but also about their own ideas and beliefs about how they are and how the world is and how it could be. and Therein lies the opportunity for change. Ms. Fessler, Capitol View
I greatly enjoyed Jane's presentation. I found her talk both fasinating and thought provoking. I must admit that I have had experiences that make sense in light of theories she explained. I plan to try using imagery in the future, and I am curious to see what happens! As far as breathing, I have heard of this concept before. I am a biology major and have a great interest in how the mind and body are related. I definately support the idea of their interconnectedness. This is an area I would like to study more in the future. I would be interested in visiting The Continuum Center for more details. College Student
I was really impressed with your lecture last Thursday. I'm still drifting in the flood of information. You said so much that I find it hard to pose any critical questions. I guess I would have to explore each facet of your discussion in greater detail. From the overview you gave, I'm sure that your work is important...I would love to receive some literature on your organization as well as any suggestions concerning my pursuit of knowledge. I believe in what you're doing. Thanks for coming down. Dave Knudsen, St. Olaf College
